Day 299 - Fish eye

After a meeting today, I went to the bathroom before I headed out.  There were these vases with a solitary flower in each. I was looking at for some time, from different perspectives. From this view, it reminded me of a fish eye lense, not exactly, but sort of.

Day 291 - On the rocks...

Just not inspired to go out and shoot a photo.  So, figured, this represented my mood the best... dreaming of a relaxing night with a cold drink (cranberry juice with soda water and a twist of lemon).... or good company and a warm drink would do too!

Day 265 - Coin in my pocket

If you are like me, when you reach into your pocket and feel a coin, you can generally tell what the value by the way it feels - the weight, the impressions, the shape, the edges, etc.  Yesterday when I reached into my pocket to feel a sole coin, and an unfamiliar coin at that.  So, I actually took it out to inspect.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was a €0.10. Um.... I've never been to Europe, so how did it end up in my possession? The only explanation I could come up with, was that maybe I got it as change somewhere? But it was also the only coin I had in my pocket, so that is a little unlikely.

Random. And it continues the travel theme of my photos.

Day 264 - Dreaming of adventures

Getting ready for the day, and my eyes keep drifting to this... my passport.  Needless to say, my mind is a million miles away. Not to say, I'm not happy where I am, because I am, but I really believe we all need a little adventure in our lives.

Day 197 - Fake snow?

I saw this and wondered, is it supposed to be a snow covered pine cone?  Everything else on this wreath was natural, except the pine cones.  I did think it looked nice, just not natural.

Day 196 - JOY!

Ever find there are a lot of different and interesting décor items out around Christmas?  This was at the local grocery store.  It sums up one of the best part of the this festive season... joy in everyone's eyes!

I have to admit to take this shot, I did have to move some (ugly price) signs out of the way. I promise I put them all back.

Day 165 - 'Tis the season

Was at the mall in this weekend, and this is what I saw... It's not early for the holiday season, but I had forgotten how elaborate the set up can be.  I went another mall, and saw that they had Santa there too.  I personally don't celebrate Christmas, but I do love Christmas because of the ubiquitous "Christmas spirit"!

Day 156 - Any idea...?

I was looking at my pictures from Baltimore and DC, and this was among them.  Can't for the life of me figure out what it is, but thought it looked really interesting.

Any ideas what it might be?

Day 147 - Memories revisited

I've been a little busy over the last week or so, and then I wasn't feeling well, over the last couple days, so I've had to pull some pictures from the archives. I came across this one, from my brother's first convocation.  Good memories, of his graduation and of UofT.  Yes, I have a renewed appreciation of the things I have experienced, including my time at university.

Day 139 - Can you tell what this is?

If you can believe, this picture is not in black and white.  This was the ceiling of the elevator in our hotel in Marrakesh. It is worth it to look up!

Day 108 - Golden dessert

Out for dessert with some friends - celebrating a very special occasion at a swanky hotel.  This dessert cost $30! The company more than made up for the cost!

Day 107 - Microscope

Another picture that I'm not sure why I like, but I do.  I took a bunch of random pictures of different artefacts at a library at Johns Hopkins University.  I think there is something about the reflecting light on the showcase.

Day 106 - Flags everywhere

Growing up, I used to hear people say that Canada is not a nation of flag wavers, and I really didn't understand what that mean.  Going to the States for the first time, it was so fascinating to see the number of American flags I saw everywhere - businesses, residences, and government buildings!

This was at Johns Hopkins University, again, a shot that I didn't take time to set up, and took as I was passing.  I wish I could have taken it straight on, to frame the flag better.

Day 104 - "10-4"

I wish I had taken the picture will all the walkie-talkies still on the docks.  It would have made a better picture, but it was a busy morning, so I didn't get there in time.  Also from the summer festival with which I volunteer.  Can you see the Tim Hortons in the background.... yup, breakfast of champions!

Day 102 - A Canadian Institution

It was super early in the morning when this photo was taken.  Ok, not really that early, but early for a Sunday, and early for having been out really late the night before. Was a the set-up/dress rehearsal at day two of a festival I volunteer with, and well, thought this sort of summed up the morning... coffee!

Day 101 - Old lamp

Just looked interesting so, I took a picture.  Still not sure what I feel about it. I know it's a little unfocused, but I'm not sure that is the issue with the photo.

Day 91 - Bubbles

This is from a shoot this summer.  I had a couple ideas of what I wanted to capture, and they didn't work very well.  I had this image in mind of capturing a stream of bubbles as they blown.  My friend, who humoured me when I wanted to stop every 3 steps to take another picture on our walk though the park, tried to blow the bubbles I wanted, and well, the solution just didn't cooperate.  This is one photo I liked from the afternoon.

Day 73- 'Tis the season

I was at Chapter's, and the wedding section caught my eye.  I love the bags, and well, it is wedding season, so this is my tribute to it!

Day 68 - Light fixtures

Was at the CNE the other day and say these lamps that were beautiful and unique.  I loved the way they looked, and tried to take a picture of them.  The picture I took had a lot of negative space, with a lot of distractions in it.  I cropped this one a few ways, and just really love the square crop the best.

Day 61 - Colour everywhere

Something about the bright orange cart and the green trees compelled me to take this picture.  I also love the little pops of fun colour from the umbrellas and bistro tables and chairs.  Learning that the city can be an interesting place to photograph.
